Milestones
Milestones and objects.
A few public moments and physical objects that made the route visible.
Public traces
The pieces that carry the route.
Robotics, GPU computing, public science, planetary work, and the later move toward place.
PhD thesis
GPU Computing for Cognitive Robotics, 2014
The thesis that held the iCub, Aquila, CUDA, action-language, and vision work together.

Education / Plymouth
Revell Research Systems Prize, 2008
After working nights and studying BSc Computing during the day, Martin received the Revell Research Systems Prize as the top final-year BSc Computing student at the University of Plymouth. The prize marked the transition from the Plymouth work-study years into Mars-rover research, iCub, and the PhD.
Plymouth / origin
Plymouth restart, 2004
A modest marker for the beginning of the UK chapter: manual work, English, BSc Computing, astronomy, and the route into robotics.
ESA / Mars
ESA rover collaboration, 2009-2010
Planetary robotics under real constraints.
Open ESA project
NVIDIA / CUDA
NVIDIA / CUDA, 2011-2014
Early GPU-computing work made visible through the Santa Clara HQ visit, CUDA spotlight, GTC material, and SC11 keynote mention.
Science Museum London
iCub video shown in museum display
Public afterlife for the iCub action-language work.

Natural bodybuilding
Natural bodybuilding discipline
The same pattern appears outside engineering: measure honestly, adapt patiently, and keep returning to the work until the result becomes visible.

Champion, Men Physique Over 40
Mr Universo CIBB Championship, Spain 2024, Carlet, Valencia. A physical record of the same constraint-and-feedback discipline.
Objects that keep the record physical
The smaller pieces that keep the history physical.
Certificates, talks, press, astronomy, and public exhibit photographs remain visible without competing with the main milestones.

2014 thesis object
The physical thesis
The bound PhD thesis object from the Plymouth cognitive-robotics period, tying the iCub, Aquila, CUDA, action-language, and vision work into one record.

Slovak press
Newspaper coverage of iCub and rover work
A Slovak newspaper spread placing the humanoid robotics work beside the rover and space-research work.
PCCAT 2010
Best paper award for rover-control research
Certificate for the rover paper with Barry Bentley on designing autonomous robot controllers for planetary exploration.
Astrophotography
Learning the sky while rebuilding life
The restored astronomy archive keeps the planetary images, sunspots, nebulae, galaxies, lunar work, and star-party photographs from the old site visible again.
Astronomy / Plymouth Hoe
Sharing the night sky
A free public telescope evening at Plymouth Hoe, part of the same astronomy and astrophotography curiosity from the Plymouth years.
